Certified with the Danish Organic Label

Organic fish farming provides a level of traceability that can otherwise be difficult to achieve. Traceability, along with a number of other requirements, is essential for obtaining the Danish red organic label. At Ådal Ørred, we naturally comply with all requirements for organic production.

When you choose organically farmed fish, you can generally be assured that…

    • The fish farm protects the surrounding environment
    • The fish are protected from potentially harmful wildlife, such as predators and predatory birds
    • The fish are kept at a maximum stocking density of 25 kg of fish per 1,000 litres of water
    • … and oxygen saturation is maintained at a minimum of 60%
    • The use of medicines and chemicals is kept to a minimum
    • The fish are fed organic feed
    • Full traceability is maintained throughout the fish’s life
    • No artificial colouring is used in the fish feed (which means that organically farmed fish may sometimes have lighter-coloured flesh than conventionally farmed fish)
    • The company is required to prioritise green energy and minimise resource waste in production

Trout Raised in the Waters of Vejle Ådal

Our trout are raised in the exceptional water of Vejle Å, which springs naturally from the ground and is collected to flow through our fish farm. We add extra oxygen to the clean water, but thanks to its steady flow and suitable temperature, very little is needed to create ideal living conditions for our fish. We operate without chemicals or other harmful substances that could potentially pollute the water.

Ådal Ørred – Fresh Organic Quality

The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration’s dietary guidelines highlight the benefits of including fish in your diet. It recommends eating 350 g of fish per week, including 200 g of oily fish such as trout. Fish is known for its content of beneficial fats, vitamins, minerals and protein. The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration also recommends choosing environmentally friendly fish, and the Danish organic label is one indicator of this. The organic feed used at Ådal Ørred ensures that our trout have a high content of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. We do not use artificial colouring and follow the strict rules governing the use of medicines in organic fish farming. This contributes to the distinctive quality and natural taste of Ådal Ørred.

Ådal Ørred – A Healthy, Fresh Fish

One of the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration’s seven dietary guidelines for better health and a healthier climate is: Eat less meat – choose legumes and fish. It is recommended to eat 350 g of fish per week, of which 200 g should be oily fish, including trout. According to the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration, 350 g of fish corresponds to eating fish as a main meal twice a week.

Fish is recommended because it is a good source of beneficial fats, including omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, as well as vitamins, minerals such as vitamin D, iodine and selenium, and protein. The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration also recommends choosing environmentally friendly fish, for example by looking for the Danish organic label.

Ådal trout are also fed organic feed with a high content of fishmeal and fish oil, which means that our trout have high levels of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids.

We do not use artificial colouring, and strict requirements apply to the use of medicines in organic fish farming.

All of this helps ensure the high food quality and fresh, natural taste that characterise Ådal Ørred.
